GT500? You mean the one with its undersized tired, and coolers for the trans diff as optional? And the performance diff is also optional? Yeah, you can go haead and have that. I'll take the better handling, daily-livable ZL1. Kthx.

Undersized tired? What the hell are those?

Optional? That means you check the yes box.(Seriously if you have the money for one your checking them)

Have fun trying to see out of that thing. Has some of the worst blind spots in the world.

I will be having fun roasting my tires.

"Tired" are what tires become when I forget to proofread on my phone. Undersized tires means 265/285 f/r on a 662hp car. 285/305 f/r with 580hp is just one way the ZL1 gets better times than the GT500 on a course with corners.

Don't tell me that you think everyone buying these will see the value in checking those boxes. There are too many people who will buy it to show off as a boulevard cruiser, and say exactly what you did. "Most powerful production V8 ever!" "lawlz I'm fast!"

I just built a comparable set of GT500 and ZL1. I tried to option them as close to each other as possible. Here are the options and final price they both ended up at:

GT500:
$3500 SVT Performance pkg
$2000 SVT Track pkg
$2340 Electronics pkg
$1595 Recaro seats
Total: $66,020

ZL1:
$795 Nav
$1995 Recaro seats
Total: $59,640

For the faster around a course with turns car, the ZL1 is even 10% less expensive!

I know the visablilty isn't very good. But the pople that I know who own them, really haven't complained about it. I would complain about it more than them.

Finally, my last big issue with having these required (imo) features as options, is that when I go looking for a used one, it makes it that much harder to find the 'perfect car'. Maybe Joe Moneybags didn't want to take his car on the track, or Sam Dealerinventory wanted to have one without the options to have a lower advertised price. That means the car I want is more uncommon.

"Government Motors"... oh, if only haters were at least clever... I'm sure your friends still think you're funny.

Yes cause all my friend share my hatred of Government Motors. Only thing they make that i would even consider is a cts-v wagon and i think they discontinued it.

All im saying is that if the government had not saved them, then they would no longer be around which is how business is supposed to work.

As much as I wouldn't mind getting my evidence that the market isn't run as freely or as fair (usually to the disadvantage of USDM manufacturers) in my free time, I think it would make more sense to keep this about the cars themselves vs market policies. Unions, currency manipulation, trade agreements... Let's talk horsepower and G-forces instead.

I suppose this is my rebuttal:

If you want to do a quarter mile at a time, and burn your tires up, be my guest. I would DD the ZL1 for more miles than you would believe, and go to the road course more than I have been lately, and this and that. In all honesty, I'd love to be that masochist that would DD a Z/28.

Yea i drive a stiff suspensioned miata so i don't need a big fat muscle car to handle. Not what they are designed to do. Built for v8 power and burnouts.

Im honestly just fucking with you. I hate the camaro and will never own one. My dad on the other hand used to have a 67 and 69 and would never own a mustang.

I kind of figured a while ago that this wasn't going to go anywhere, haha.

The beauty of modern muscle cars, though, is that they can do everything (maybe gas mileage excluded... usually). While the answer undoubtedly is Miata, I'm sure you'd be surprised how well these things would keep up with you in the Miata's natural habitat.

The ZL1 is market straight to me so well, except for the lacking mpg. In contrast to your Miata, I have a GTO that I've put over 20k miles on so far this year. As I mentioned the ZL1 lacks mpg for those kind of travels, so I'm updating the GTO (mostly suspension / brakes) instead.

Different strokes, different folks. But my dad also had a few first gen Camaros (Z/28s and SSs), a third gen (IROC-Z), and a couple fourth gens (Z28 and SS), and I can also never see him with a Mustang. lol.
